Mermaid or not, Capt. Horne prizes it very highly. It is said that Adam Forepaugh, now in the city, has offered a thousand dollars for it, wishing it for his menagerie, which offer was declined. Capt. Horne will sail for Liverpool in a few days and hopes to find a better market in London for it. As the first American mermaid ever seen in Europe, it may command more than its “weight in gold.”
